Planting day at community garden

Yes… we are late getting started.  But that hasn’t quelled the enthusiasm of these young “farmers” as they get started planting the seeds of what they hope will be a bountiful harvest later this summer.  There were a few obstacles to getting this first community garden up and running, but we overcame those and learned a few lessons along the way. These neighborhood kids and some adults have been right there with us since the project began.  We now have a few other lots that have been donated for gardens and are looking forward to getting those ready for the fall.

The garden is located at the corner of Anderson and Cason in Riverbend.  Swing by and take a look if you get a few minutes.  If you are interested in gardening and want to lend a hand to getting our other locations up and running, let us know.  Email kgwin@firstwest.cc.
