Playground added in Riverbend

Playground in Riverbend neighborhood

Pictured is a new addition to the Riverbend neighborhood with the installation of new playground equipment completed today.  This is a joint project of First West and Boy Scouts of America.  Caleb Fenn, for his Eagle Scout project, selected to build a new playground for the young children that live around the Lazarre Street area of Riverbend.  The kids couldn’t wait to start playing on it – they have been anxiously watching the construction over the last couple of weeks.  I overheard one small boy say “I’m going to sleep here tonight!”.

The playground is located across the street from Glen and Varnado Myers home.  They are our community missionary family living in Riverbend.  The Myers welcome a group of neighborhood children into their home each Sunday morning to learn about Jesus.  They will be able to make good use of the playground as they build relationships with the neighborhood children.

We could still use a little help with the finishing touches – we need either rubber or wood chips to put on the ground around the equipment.  If you have access to either, know someone that does, or would like to donate toward this project please let us know.

It’s really beautiful. Congratulations and “thank you” to Caleb Fenn for all his hard work. Thanks also to all the others who have worked so hard. The transformation of Riverbend is quickly becoming a reality!
